About the symbol
The scarab, along with the concepts of existence, development, and growth, was revered as a symbol representing the cycle of life, creation, death, and rebirth, and was seen as a form of protection. Hundreds of thousands of scarab amulets were crafted in Egypt over many centuries, and many thousands have survived. They were typically carved from precious or semi-precious stones, metal, or glass, or molded from Egyptian faience, a primitive version of porcelain.
This charm is sold on its own but looks lovely dangling form chains or hoops.

About the metals
Sterling Silver (.925) is 92.5% pure silver alloyed with 7.5% other metals — usually copper — for extra durability, and it's naturally hypoallergenic. Silver can tarnish over time, a natural reaction with sulfur in the air, but the easiest fix is simply wearing it: the oils in your skin help keep it clean and shiny.
Vermeil is gold applied over sterling silver — similar to gold plating, but with a layer five times thicker and far more durable. Ours is 18K gold, completely nickel-free. Because the gold layer can gradually wear down with frequent contact — skin oils, perfumes, lotions — vermeil suits occasional wear better than everyday use.
Karat Gold - Gold purity is measured in karats on a scale up to 24 — pure gold is 24K. A 14K piece contains more gold than a 9K one; the rest of the alloy is made up of copper and zinc. This alloy makes it very durable and the perfect alternative for everyday wear.

Some of our rings are U shaped (with a flat top), which makes them a bit more forgiving in the way they size. They are usually available in 3 sizes.
To find your ring size, take a small strip of paper and wrap it around the thickest part of your finger (often your knuckle). Make a mark where the paper overlaps. Measure the length of the paper up to that mark to find the circumference of your ring. Once you have it you can convert it to a size using the chart below.
If you are between two sizes, take into consideration the season (cold weather usually means skinnier fingers), your knuckle-to-finger ratio and preferred fit, as well as how often you plan on taking it on and off, etc.
