About the symbol

The scarab, along with the concepts of existence, development, and growth, was revered as a symbol representing the cycle of life, creation, death, and rebirth, and was seen as a form of protection. Hundreds of thousands of scarab amulets were crafted in Egypt over many centuries, and many thousands have survived. They were typically carved from precious or semi-precious stones, metal, or glass, or molded from Egyptian faience, a primitive version of porcelain.

About the stone

Rhodochrosite is a stunning mineral known for its vibrant pink to red color. Many rhodochrosite specimens display beautiful banding or concentric patterns, which can range from light to dark pink layers, often alternating with white or grey layers. The Sweet Home Mine in Colorado, USA, produces some of the finest crystal specimens of this mineral, but Argentina is renowned for its high-quality banded rhodochrosite, used in this piece.

Malachite is renowned for its intense green color, which can range from light to deep, almost blackish green. The color comes from its high copper content. One of Malachite’s signature features is its concentric banding. These bands can appear as swirling patterns or eye-like orbs, often in shades of green. Malachite’s color does not fade over time or when exposed to light, which along with its ability to be easily ground to a powder, made it a preferred pigment and coloring agent for thousands of years.
Malachite was highly valued by the ancient Egyptians, who used it in jewelry, amulets, and as a pigment for eye makeup.

ABOUT the metal

Vermeil is a technique invented in 1805 where gold is applied to sterling silver.
The gold coat applied on vermeil pieces must be above 2.5 microns, creating a finish that is five times thicker than average gold plating, and far more durable.
The gold used in our Vermeil pieces is 18 karats of purity and completely nickel free.
