About the symbol

The scarab, along with the concepts of existence, development, and growth, was revered as a symbol representing the cycle of life, creation, death, and rebirth, and was seen as a form of protection. Hundreds of thousands of scarab amulets were crafted in Egypt over many centuries, and many thousands have survived. They were typically carved from precious or semi-precious stones, metal, or glass, or molded from Egyptian faience, a primitive version of porcelain.

About the stone

Cantera opal is primarily a variety of precious opal with a volcanic origin. One of its defining features is that it often has portions of the volcanic host rock surrounding the opal. Cantera opals are primarily found in Mexico, where the stone has been part of indigenous jewelry and ceremonial adornment for centuries.

Turquoise is one of the first gemstones to be mined and has long been prized for its blue color. Its history as a spiritual stone goes back over 7500 years. Whereas Egyptians prized Turquoise as a Life Stone, Native Americans believed the stone brought protection. This rare variety, called Blue Hills Turquoise, comes from the Middle East region of Kazakhstan and has a lighter, more lavender tone than the traditional color.

ABOUT the metal

Vermeil is a technique invented in 1805 where gold is applied to sterling silver.
The gold coat applied on vermeil pieces must be above 2.5 microns, creating a finish that is five times thicker than average gold plating, and far more durable.
The gold used in our Vermeil pieces is 18 karats of purity and completely nickel free.
